Wet Lunch
The crowd at the pool was about average today. I had to split the outside lane with someone that left after about 6 minutes. I don't like swimming in the outside lanes because they are usually the ones preferred by slower swimmers and I feel like a tool swimming there. I'm not going to double up one of the middle lanes if there is a lane open though, so I just kept going.
I did not have much of a plan for the workout today. It is supposed to be a rest day for the half training. I did an easy 500 while messing around with my new heart rate monitor. I couldn't get it to work very well, but when it did, I realized that I was working about as hard as I do when I walk. This isn't a huge suprise, I always say that I could swim forever at an easy pace. Anyways, I decided to pick it up a bit. I did 5x100 on the 1:30 holding around 1:15s and then 10x50 kick on the 1:00. I was considering a 500 trying to hold 1:20s, but instead did 5x100s on the 1:20 which wasn't too bad. I got about 5 seconds rest on all of them. A quick 200 warmdown and I was back to work.
